How to use Little Tagger with Raycast Quicklinks

Before you start

• Little Tagger 2.1.0 or later on a supported Mac.
• Raycast installed.
• A saved preset or workflow in Little Tagger.
• Access to the files or folders you want to use.

The examples use a workflow called Initialize Research Docs. Use your own saved item instead.

Copy a preset or workflow link

1. Open Little Tagger.
2. Find the saved preset or workflow in the sidebar.
3. Right-click it.
4. Choose Copy Link.

The link identifies an existing saved item on your Mac. It does not contain an exported copy of the preset or workflow, so do not assume it works on another Mac.

Create a Quicklink that opens the saved item

1. Open Raycast and run Create Quicklink.
2. Paste the copied Little Tagger link into Link.
3. Give it a recognizable name, such as Open Research Workflow.
4. Choose Little Tagger under Open With, if it is not selected automatically.
5. Save the Quicklink.
6. Find it by name in Raycast and open it.
7. Confirm that Little Tagger selects the intended saved item.

Add a file or folder argument

A second Quicklink can ask you for a path each time you run it. Append this suffix to the unmodified link copied from your own preset or workflow:

?file={argument name="File or folder"}

The complete link then follows one of these patterns. They are templates, not working links: YOUR_PRESET_ID and YOUR_WORKFLOW_ID stand for the identifier in the link you copied. Keep your copied link as it is and add only the suffix.

1. Create a second Quicklink, or edit the existing one.
2. Append the suffix to the copied link.
3. Give it a name such as Research Workflow with Files.
4. Keep Open With set to Little Tagger.
5. Save it.
6. Run it from Raycast.
7. Enter one absolute file or folder path in the File or folder argument.
8. Review the imported files and the selected item in Little Tagger.
9. With Manually selected, press Play when you are ready.
10. Check the resulting Finder tags.

A fictional example path looks like this. Use a path that exists on your own Mac:

/Users/yourname/Documents/Research/sample.pdf

• Enter plain path text. The field does not run shell commands or expand ~.
• Raycast normally encodes the argument for you. You do not need to encode the path yourself.
• Each argument accepts one path. A comma- or line-separated list is not treated as several files.

Check the Raycast configuration

The screenshot shows an existing Quicklink being edited, so its button reads Update Quicklink; when you create a new one, the save button may be worded differently. Its example name, Run Workflow w Files, does not change Little Tagger’s saved execution timing.

When tagging runs

• When you supply a folder, the saved item’s processing options and filters decide which files are tagged.
• The link does not create a separate workspace. Check the workspace and the selection before a manual run.
• A Quicklink does not bypass Little Tagger’s trial or purchase access checks.
• The word open in the link does not guarantee review-only behavior. With file input, the saved timing decides when tagging runs.

Troubleshooting

A Quicklink does not automatically receive your current Finder selection. Selected text, clipboard text, and original file references are different things. To tag selected Finder files directly, use the Apple Shortcuts guide.
