Use tags already in your workspace
Reuse tags that files in the workspace already have.

Quick answer
Open the Tags inspector to see Workspace Tags: tags already assigned to files in your workspace. Double-click a tag, or drag it into Selected Tags, to prepare it for a tagging action or into your workspace to apply to files.
Find Workspace Tags
Open View > Inspector > Tags. Workspace Tags lists the tags that files currently in the workspace already have.
Reuse a workspace tag
- Add files to the workspace. See Add files and folders.
- Open the Tags inspector.
- Find Workspace Tags.
- Double-click a tag, or drag it into Selected Tags or your Workspace.
- Review the prepared tagging action and the target files before you run it.
Preparing a tag does not apply it. Tags change only when you run the action. See Add, remove, and replace tags.
Understand the tag sections
| Section | Meaning |

| Workspace Tags | Tags already used by files in the workspace. |
| Selected Tags | Tags prepared for the current tagging action. |
| Recently Used | Tags you selected recently. |
| Groups | The app’s organization of related tags. |
Workspace Tags covers only the files in the workspace. It is not a scan of your whole Mac, and it is not limited to tags that every selected file shares.
When no workspace tags appear
The section stays empty when the workspace is empty or none of its files have tags. To find untagged files, see Show only files with no tags.
