Quick answer
Open Little Tagger > Settings... or press Command-comma. In General, change appearance, the menu bar icon, date-tag formatting, or Launch At Login. Use About to find the app version and feedback link. These settings save as you change them; there is no separate Save button.
Open the right settings
Bring Little Tagger to the front, then choose Little Tagger > Settings.... The window has General and About tabs.
App settings are separate from tag and preset management. Use Actions > Manage Tags... for the library and Actions > Manage Presets... for preset organization.
Change General settings
| Setting | How it works |
|---|---|
| Appearance: Light, Dark, System | Choose the app's appearance. System follows the Mac's appearance setting. |
| Show Little Tagger in menu bar | Show or hide Little Tagger's status icon in the macOS menu bar. |
| Date tag format | Choose a format and separator for newly generated date suggestions. |
| Launch At Login | Request that Little Tagger opens when you sign in to the Mac. |
Choose the desired appearance directly. For either checkbox, turn it on or off and check any error shown beneath it.
Hiding the menu bar icon does not delete Favorites. Open the app normally to change the setting again. The status icon and the app's top-level Favorites menu are different entry points; see Use keyboard shortcuts and the menu bar.
Change date suggestions
Under Tag Suggestions, choose a Format and Separator for Date tag format, then regenerate suggestions in the AI inspector. Existing tags are not renamed. The detailed behavior is covered in Block words and customize suggestions.
Set startup behavior
Turn on Launch At Login under Startup. If Little Tagger displays an error, read it before retrying and check any macOS approval requested for the login item.
Opening the app at login does not create a watched folder or schedule a tagging task. Preset and workflow execution is controlled separately by their timing and the actions you perform in the app.
Find the version or send feedback
Choose About. Note the displayed version and build when reporting a problem. Visit Website opens the website, and Send Feedback opens a message through the Mac's email setup.
For a reproducible problem report, use Contact support and report a problem.
When settings are locked or not saved
If the window says A valid purchase is required to change settings, use Choose Plan to open the access screen. An existing purchaser should try restoring the purchase rather than buying again just to unlock settings.
If a setting shows a saving or startup error, confirm it after reopening Settings. Do not delete the app's data or reset unrelated macOS privacy permissions as a first response.
