Block words and customize suggestions

Exclude unwanted suggestion names and choose how newly suggested date tags are formatted.

Last updated: 2026-09-11

Quick answer

For blocked names, open Actions > Manage Tags... > AI, enter a Word or phrase, and click Add. For date formatting, open Little Tagger > Settings... > General > Tag Suggestions. Return to the AI inspector and regenerate. These preferences affect suggestions, not tags already on files.

Block an unwanted suggestion and regenerate

Video walkthrough coming soon. Follow the steps below.

Add a blocked name

  1. Open Actions > Manage Tags....
  2. Choose the AI tab. This is the blocklist in tag management, not the workspace's AI inspector.
  3. Under Blocked Tag Suggestions, enter the complete unwanted name in Word or phrase.
  4. Click Add or press Return.
  5. Close tag management, return to View > Inspector > AI, and click Generate tag suggestions.

The name appears in the saved list. An equivalent entry already in the list produces a duplicate-entry message.

Understand what a block matches

The blocklist compares the full suggested name, ignoring capitalization and equivalent accent differences. It does not act as a substring search, wildcard, or a list of word roots.

For example, blocking Invoice also covers invoice, but does not automatically cover Invoices or Invoice Archive. Add each complete unwanted name that needs to be excluded.

Blocked names are filtered from both existing-tag suggestions and newly proposed names. Blocking a name does not delete that tag from the library or from any file, and does not stop you from selecting it manually.

Allow a name again

Open Manage Tags > AI and click the trash button beside the blocked entry. Then regenerate suggestions. Removing a block makes the name eligible again; it does not guarantee that it will be suggested for the current files.

Change date-tag formatting

  1. Open Little Tagger > Settings... and select General.
  2. Under Tag Suggestions, find Date tag format.
  3. Choose the order in Format and a value in Separator.
  4. Return to the AI inspector and generate suggestions again.

For example, yyyymmdd with - produces a full date such as 2026-09-11. Shorter year forms and different component orders are available. The separator menu includes no separator, a blank, and punctuation choices.

A suggestion may contain only a year or a year and month when that is the available date precision. Formatting does not invent missing date information.

What stays unchanged

Changing these preferences does not rename or reformat tags already saved in the library, selected in a preset, or applied to files. Review those separately when needed. A date-shaped name on the blocklist must match the resulting suggested name, so a different format may require a different blocked entry.

When an unwanted name still appears

Regenerate rather than judging an old results list. Check the exact full name, plural form, and separator against the blocklist. A tag shown in Selected Tags is already prepared for an action and is not the same as an unaccepted suggestion. Remove it there when it should not be applied.
